Play Experience Preparation

Find a quiet space - Source device to play music if necessary

Experience Steps

  1. Find a quiet space.
  2. Use the device for relaxing music or just listening to the sounds around you is okay too.
  3. Lie on your back or sit/stand quietly and still - breathe in, hold, breathe out. You can also raise your arms with your child as you breathe in, and let them go when you breathe out.
  4. Sit and listen to the sounds of the world.
  5. Share your favourite place to be/who you like to be with or your favourite part of the day/week.
  6. Move slowly to the relaxing music - move body parts in slow movements.

What to talk about, or questions to ask during the experience

  • What sounds can you hear?
  • Listen to your breath.
  • Tell me about..... (what came to your mind).

Build on this...

  • Daily practice―embed into the routine.
  • Sharing meals together and sharing favourite part of the day with family and friends each day.
  • Sharing gratitude.
  • Consider other mindful practices such as yoga.
